Its Nigeria vs Senegal in AYC final

Host nation Senegal defeated Mali 2-1 to set up a meeting with the Flying Eagles on Sunday in the final of the 20th edition of the CAF U20 Championship.

Les Lions de la Teranga scored the winning goal late in the game and held on for an inspiring victory in the second West African semis of the championship.

Hence, with the result, the scripts are well rehearsed as the finalist will clash for the second time at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, the first meeting; which incidentally was the curtain raiser, saw Nigeria put 3 past the hosts and has since not looked back reaching the final as the only team yet to lose a game in the tournament.

The third place match will be a repeat of the earlier Group stage fixture as well between Ghana and Mali, with the Black Satellites ending that encounter as second best.

The four west African teams have also booked their places for the World Cup in New Zealand and Sunday’s games will among other things decide which groups Africa’s representatives will feature, as the draws for the showpiece was conducted last month in Auckland, New Zealand.

Both games will be played on the bumpy grass pitch of the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in the historic city of Dakar.
